Letting Go of Control

This past week I was in the book of Proverbs and re-read one of my favorite verses: Proverbs 3: 5-6 which reads...

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight.”

One of my biggest struggles is control. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to control every aspect of my life, whether that be excelling in school, career, relationships, future events, you name it. However, one thing I’ve learned is that although we may have control over some areas, none of us ever have full autonomy over how things play out in our lives.

Life can be unpredictable and throw us curveballs, we live in a fallen world, what else can we expect? However, I’ve learned that true freedom lies when you fully surrender to God, knowing that He is sovereign. When we trust and submit to Him, everything will fall into place. After all, He has the best in store for us.

It’s easier said than done, but the more I’ve fully surrendered, the more I see His beautiful hand turning everything for the better.
