The Gift of Time

Our time here on this Earth is limited, but regardless of its limits the time given to us is a gift.

Psalms 90:12 (NIV)

“Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

God has given me two gifts. He has given me the gift of #time and the gift of free will. I choose how I use the time that God has given to me. Think about your life...what have you accomplished? What have you experienced? Did any of those accomplishments and experiences satisfy you?

  • If YES: What made it satisfactory?

  • If NO: What was missing?

If you are using your time to gain wisdom of the heart and rejoice in God's unfailing love, then you should have gladness in your life. This gladness will manifest a feeling that is way past the point of simple #satisfaction. When your body, heart, mind, and soul are feeling unsatisfied, that is not of God. I can honestly say that I struggle to spend my #gift on meaningful things, so I find myself often feeling unsatisfied.

When those negative feelings start to fill the well inside me, I always remember that God's favor rests on me every day, and to ignore the privileged affliction that is time on this Earth is almost an insult to that favor. So, I encourage you to live your life on this Earth but live spiritually in the shelter of the Lord. Under His wings, you are unshakeable and secure. There is no safer place than with God who loves you and knows your name and sees your heart.

Psalms 91:4 (NIV)

“He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings, you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your armor and protection.”

Let God guide you and shield you throughout your life. No harm will take you in the shelter of His promises. He has trusted you with free will to do what you want in this life. If you trust Him and honor Him, He will satisfy you beyond what you can ever think or imagine. I have learned and continue to see proof of how having faith leads to gladness. If you are not feeling satisfied, then you are not putting your trust in Him.

The scriptures above are not about you and they are not about me. They are not about who you are or who I am. They are about who God was, is, and will continue to be. Don't base your life on your own faithfulness because we are imperfect people and our faith unfortunately can sometimes waver. Therefore, base your life on His faithfulness and I promise you will see a difference. Spend your gift of time choosing a life that seeks to glorify God.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for giving me shelter. Thank you for your unfailing love and unshakeable protection. God, I come to you today to accept your promises and rely on your faithfulness. May you continue to cover me with your feathers, so I may enjoy my time here on this Earth. Thank you for answering every call when I am in trouble or in need of comfort. I pray that I will forever be secure in your care. I trust you alone to go before me and behind me as I journey on my given path. I pray those who have yet to seek your favor will be drawn to you and rejoice in your faithfulness and delight in your promises. Teach me to love out loud and share the wealth of my salvation with others.

In Your name, I pray,

AMEN
